İzmit Refinery began production in 1961 with capacity to process 1 million tons/year crude oil. As a result of significant capacity increases and the conversion unit investments over the years, the Refinery’s design capacity was registered at 11.3 million tons/year. Producing to Euro V standards, İzmit Refinery located in a consumption center, accounting for 33% of Turkey’s consuption of petroleum products.
A total of 11.9 million tons of material, including 9.8 million tons of crude oil and 2.0 million tons of semi-finished products, were processed at the RUP Facility in 2018, which operated at maximum capacity in the İzmit Refinery. As of the end of 2018, the Refinery’s total product sales amounted to 14.9 million tons, of which 12.9 million tons were domestic sales.
